Welcome to The SEGA Lounge! How's it going over there? Hope you're all doing well.

As you know, Sonic the Hedgehog, many a SEGA fan's first game ever, myself included, is turning 30 years old soon. Next week, to be exact. To celebrate we're putting out a couple of special episodes dedicated to the blue blur, starting with this one.

We're kicking off our Sonic's 30th anniversary celebrations with Dave Bulmer and Chris McFeely, the hosts of Sonic the Comic the Podcast. As the name implies, it's a podcast dedicated to the UK Sonic the Comic published by Fleetway in the 90's. This is not the first time we cover the comic on the show but this time we're doing it from the perspective of two massive fans who regularly dissect each of its issues. This was great fun to record so I do hope you enjoy it, even if you're not familiar with the comic. Take it as #SEGAducation if that's the case.

Keeping with the Sonic theme of this episode, it's time to talk a bit about Race For Good 2021, an amazing yearly event for charity organized by TitansCreed and TheBritishAndy. It's been just the two of them racing each other on stream playing Sonic games, but this time around, they've invited several other community members, including myself, to join. Check out our blog post with the event's announcement.

I'll be streaming on my own Twitch channel kc_radioman starting on Monday, the 21st of June, so keep an eye out on both mine and The SEGA Lounge's Twitter accounts for up-to-date information as the event progresses. I hope you're able to join in and support SpecialEffect if possible.

And I'm delighted to announce that next week's episode will be a Race For Good and Sonic 30th special with some of the people involved in Race For Good 2021 going head-to-head in a very special Sonic-themed SEGA Lounge Challenge. It's going to be chaos and I'm sure you'll love it!

Until then, thanks for listening, enjoy your week. Stay safe out there and I hope you join me for the next episode of The SEGA Lounge.
